A trip to Abu Dhabi by Robert Burgoine
Welcome to my Filming Abu Dhabi page! In 2023, I took my first trip to the UAE to film Ultra Abu Dhabi. Given my nickname, "Robu Dhabi," it felt like the perfect adventure. I’m always excited to explore new places, and while Abu Dhabi had a bit of an empty vibe at times, the stunning architecture and the warm, welcoming people made up for it. We stayed right by the F1 track, next to the iconic Ferrari building, where the festival took place. It was definitely an unforgettable experience.
n 2023, I flew to Abu Dhabi for the first time to film Ultra Abu Dhabi, marking our first show in the region. The trip started with me and a friend renting a car and driving to Dubai for some scenic shots. Later, I learned it was a big mistake to mix the two cities, so we headed back to Abu Dhabi to begin filming.

The filming process turned out to be extremely difficult and frustrating due to the country’s strict filming policies. If you don’t have proper permission, you’ll be stopped, often by armed guards. Trust me—getting permission is non-negotiable. My best advice is to always call ahead and secure the right permits for your filming location, or you'll face major setbacks. In fact, I’d estimate that 85% of the places I tried to film were shut down.

In all honesty, this was one of the toughest filming experiences I’ve ever had when it comes to capturing scenic shots for a recap. Filming the Festival however was a breeze and we had some fantastic DJ's perform like Skrillex so the show was a great success.
